State police fire marshals were called in after an explosion was reported in Center Township Thursday night.
Logan Dellafiora of the Coral-Graceton Fire Department confirmed that there was a small explosion in the area of Rhine Road around 9:00 last night. Fire crews were called out at 9:22 PM, according to Indiana County 911. When fire crews from Coral-Graceton and Homer City arrived on-scene, they found some debris on fire near an access road off of Rhine, and a crater that confirmed the explosion happened. The explosion itself was contained to a five-foot by five-foot area.
Dellafiora said that the cause of the explosion at this time is not known, but State Police Fire Marshals were called in to investigate the cause. It’s not known if this was an accidental explosion or if it was intentional.
