The Homer-Center School Board met last night and the board heard an update on the stairwell project.
Earlier this week, a letter went out to district parents and on the district’s Facebook page, and last night, the school board was informed that by the first day of school on August 20th, the stairs that are being built will be emergency access compliant, and there will be no need to relocate any classrooms. The stair project will be completed soon.
In other business, the board approved by a 6-1 vote extending the contract between the Homer-Center School District and Homer-Center Education Association by 1-year. Vicki Smith was the only vote against the contract extension and she talked about why she voted against it.
Also, The board unanimously approved the hiring of Helena Dadson as a temporary professional special education teacher and the board approved three-year-contracts between the district and Siemens for the HVAC control services.
