Firefighters were busy yesterday in Indiana County, with numerous incidents, especially in the center portion of the county.
Among the calls in the afternoon and nighttime hours were a vehicle accident shortly after 2 PM on Grandview Avenue in Blairsville, to which Blairsville and Black Lick firefighters responded. Minutes later, Indiana Companies 3 and 4 were dispatched along with the Rapid Intervention Team for a reported structure fire on Church Street, where a man had been burning brush but the flames melted the siding on his home. Just after 3 PM, Indiana Company 1 was dispatched for a railroad tie on fire along Saltsburg Avenue in White Township. Just before 4 PM, Creekside firefighters were summoned for an odor investigation in Creekside Borough, and Indiana firefighters were called to assist about ten minutes later.
Nighttime incidents included an accident on Tanoma Road In Rayne Township just before 9:30 PM. Clymer firefighters responded. Coral-Graceton was sent to an EMS assist along Shady Lane in Center Township just after 10 PM, and Homer City was sent to assist shortly afterward.
