The Indiana County Commissioners approved filing an application for some grant funding at their meeting this Morning.
Byron Stauffer of the office of Planning and Development received approval to file an application for an Assistance to Coal Communities grant ranging from $2 to $3 million. Stauffer said that there would be some money available for planning initiatives for county sustainability and improvements for the Route 119 business park among other ideas.
The grant money is being distributed by the Economic Development Administration through the US Department of Commerce.
In other business, the Commissioners commemorated the 50th Anniversary of the Indiana County Parks and Trails Commission with a special proclamation. County Parks and Trails director Ed Patterson has put together a book commemorating the history of the commission, which is available for free at the commission’s office at Blue Spruce Park and for download through their website, www.indianacountyparks.org
