Activity has picked up this week on three construction projects north of Indiana.
PennDOT has not issued a notice yet, but an electronic sign at the top and bottom of Grove Chapel Hill, on Route 119 in Rayne Township, advises motorists that they should expect delays on Thursday as a new box culvert will be installed. That roadway is only two lanes and is heavily traveled, as it’s the main artery to northern Indiana County, so traffic will back up quickly and the delays could be lengthy.
A few miles further north, in the village of Home, paving crews yesterday began laying down asphalt on a new traffic lane alongside the northbound lane of Route 119 as work progresses on a new bridge that will realign the highway. So far, no restrictions beyond the usual construction delays have been called for there.
And in Plumville, were a new bridge is being installed and the curve realigned at the Route 85 intersection with Rossmoyne Road, utility crews in the last week have been installing new lines. Delays are minimal there.
