At the state Senior Legion tournament yesterday, Ethan Prugh hit a three-run homer with two outs in the top of the seventh inning as Young Township shocked two-time defending state champion Hamburg, 5-4. Young Township trailed 3-2 before Prugh’s blast.
Blake Fairman threw 6-and-a-third innings of solid baseball to get the win. Nathan Slapinski picked up the save by getting the final two outs, with the game ending on a popup to first base with runners on second and third for Hamburg. Brady Yard was 2-for-3 for Young Township, which will play its second game this afternoon against Mifflinburg.
