There are about ten dozen Criminal Call cases on today’s Indiana County Court schedule, but one case originally on the agenda, the Todd Walters criminal homicide case, will not be reviewed. Walters’ attorney this week filed for and was granted a continuance to October 4th. The Indiana man is charged with killing his mother in 2015, and a mental competency hearing is scheduled for August 26th.
Criminal Call is a judicial review of a case’s progress toward trial. Attorneys may introduce motions, enter pleas, or address other issues before the judge.
On the list today there are five cases specifically involving children, including two for sex crimes, one for corruption of minors, and two for endangering the welfare of children in which the defendant is a parent or guardian.
By far, the most prevalent crimes on the schedule today are drug offenses, including seventeen felony cases for possession with intent to deliver.
