The Indiana School Board met for a special meeting Monday evening and heard from the superintendent about possibly extending dual enrollment options.
The plan suggested by Superintendent Michael Vuckovich last night would allow Senior High students in 10th grade to start taking classes as part of a dual enrollment agreement with IUP. Currently, dual enrollment is offered to 11th and 12th graders. The program offers qualified high school students the opportunity to take selected classes from IUP at 75% of the established tuition rate, with the student receiving IUP credits upon successful completion of the class.
Board President Walter Schroth said the board was eager to expand the program.
The board may see the request for the program’s expansion come up at a future meeting.
The board also authorized the administration to release and advertise for bids for the East Pike Old Office Renovation Project and the new HVAC system project for the administrative wing of the building. The project is based on the work that the buildings and grounds committee has done over the last year, and comes with the recommendation of the committee and Buchart Horn Architects.
