The parent company of Homer City Tire has confirmed details concerning the recent closure announcement of their store outside of Homer City.
According to Deann Mercier with Lockhart Tire, the decision was made a month ago to close the facilities and move their stock and machinery to Lockhart Tire’s headquarters in the Pittsburgh area. Mercier said that the 7 employees affected by the closure were offered jobs at Lockhart Tire. She also confirmed that there were plans to try to sell the business, but those plans fell through. The closure was blamed on the lack of business in the area.
Homer City Tire was in business since September of 1990, serving the area for 27 years.
