IUP coach Paul Tortorella said last night that he was proud of his Crimson Hawks football team for holding its composure for the entire sixty minutes Saturday against Slippery Rock. He told Jack Benedict on Hawk Talk from the Hilton Garden Inn on U92 and Renda Digital TV that IUP put together a solid effort in all three phases of the game…offense, defense, and special teams.
Now the task ahead of the Hawks is the Coal Bowl, kicking off at noon on Saturday at Cal U.
Tortorella says they are well aware of how good Cal is.
IUP wide receiver Duane Brown was named yesterday the PSAC West Offensive Athlete of the Week. Brown caught ten passes for 140 yards and two touchdowns on Saturday.
A day after IUP was ranked 8th in the nation in the AP poll, the Crimson Hawks moved into the AFCA coaches poll at number 18. PSAC rival Shepherd is ranked second in the AP, fourth in the coaches poll.
