Camp Seph Mack in Indiana County is getting ready to host a return to summer residence camp in 2024.
The camp, located within Yellow Creek State Park, had hosted week long residence camps since 1934, but in 2019, the Laurel Highlands Council of the Boy Scouts of America announced that as part of its new master plan, residence camping would end that summer. While weekend camps have been held there, there have been no week-long camp experiences since then.
According to a news release, a one-week residence camp will be held in 2024, which coincides with the 20th anniversary of Seph Mack. Bernie Lockard, a member of the Laurel Highland Council Board of Directors said it will not be resident camp like it has been in the past, which allowed scouts to earn Merit Badges and work on advancements.
Both boys and girls will be accepted for the program, which will be themed around the legends of Sasquatch aka Bigfoot.
