A Pittsburgh man has admitted guilt to charges connected with drug store robberies in Westmoreland and Allegheny counties, including a robbery in nearby New Alexandria.
Acting US Attorney Sue C. Song announced in a media release that 66-year-old Stephan Edward Corrick of Pittsburgh pleaded guilty in federal court to six counts against him, including charges of conspiracy to commit robbery of a pharmacy, robbery of a pharmacy, brandishing a firearm in relation to a crime of violence, and possession of a controlled substance with intent to distribute in connection with two pharmacy robberies. One of those robberies happened on March 11th, 2016 at Palmer’s Pharmacy in Russellton, Allegheny County, where he and a co-conspirator stole about 10,000 does of prescription drugs, including oxycodone and fentanyl, worth an estimated street value of $235,000. The other robbery was at the Keystone Pharmacy in New Alexandria Borough in Westmoreland County. In that robbery, Corrick had disguised himself by wearing a Kylo Ren mask bought from a nearby Target store. He and a co-conspirator took between 15 and 20,000 dosage units and cash from the Keystone Pharmacy. DEA investigators noticed similarities in both robberies and were able to trace the robbery back to Corrick through the purchase of his mask. After Corrick confessed to authorities, police were able to capture his accomplice, Dana Shipley, who had a backpack filled with the pills they stole, along with the masks worn in the New Alec robbery and money taken from the Keystone Pharmacy.
Sentencing for Corrick is set for October 26th. He faces a maximum sentence of 20 years in prison, fines up to $250,000 or both. Corrick remains in custody pending his sentencing.
