With the start of classes at IUP and the thirteen other state-owned universities just five weeks away, negotiations for a new faculty contract at the school resume today in Harrisburg.
The schedule calls for two days of “interest-based” bargaining, following up on two days of talks last week. In a joint statement with State System Chancellor Dan Greenstein, APSCUF President Kenneth Mash said there was “substantial progress” made on several key issues last week.
The last contract was a one-year deal that was designed to give the two sides time to prepare for a long-term agreement. It expired on June 30th. State law mandates that the terms of the previous deal will remain in effect until a new contract is ratified.
State System coaches are scheduled to resume talks on their contract on August 5th.
