On Tuesday, the Indiana Area Collaborative Team held a stakeholder meeting as part of the group’s preparation for IUP Homecoming weekend.
Representatives from various stakeholder groups including law enforcement, the university, landlord groups and others were on hand to share information for the events that will happen for the remainder of the week and for homecoming weekend. I-ACT media representative Michelle Fryling talked about the importance of everyone working together for the mission of keeping things safe over this celebratory weekend.
Indiana Borough Police Chief Justin Schawl said that there will be an increased police presence over the weekend, but it is not to be feared.
State police also confirmed an increased presence this weekend, including the mounted unit being brought into town.
There are also a lot of activities planned for the weekend, ranging from Thursday night’s student hip-hop show to the annual parade and Homecoming football game on Saturday, to a concert from the IUP Concert Bands on Sunday.
