IUP football coach Paul Tortorella said on last night’s edition of Hawk Talk with Jack Benedict that his Crimson Hawks are going to face a very tough Slippery Rock team on Saturday afternoon at George P. Miller Stadium.
IUP is 3-0 and moved up to the first slot among the “others receiving votes” category in the latest AFCA coaches poll this week. Slippery Rock is 4-0 and moved up three spots from number 11 to number 8.
Slippery Rock beat Seton Hill, 30-2, last Saturday. Tortorella says the Rockets’ passing game gets a lot of attention, but the run game is also a weapon.
Coming off a 33-16 win over Mercyhurst, Tortorella says the Crimson Hawks still have a lot of improvement to do on defense, especially in the secondary.
Saturday’s Homecoming game kicks off at 2 o’clock on 92.5 FM U92 and the U92 Sportschannel.
