A Clymer man was arrested Thursday afternoon and charged with sexually assaulting a 15-year-old female in Indiana Borough, as well as another location within Indiana County, prior to October 2018.
David Oswalt, 56, was taken into custody without incident. The alleged juvenile victim was in the custody of Indiana County Children and Youth Services during the investigation.
On Oct. 30, 2018, ICCYS notified Indiana Borough Police of text messages received by the alleged victim from a known adult male. An investigation was conducted from November 2018 to July 2019 with coordinated interviews and search warrants, producing evidence of multiple sexual assaults. Due to the extensive and sensitive nature of the investigation, the police worked closely with ICCYS, the Indiana County District Attorney’s office, investigators from the Department of Homeland Security and FBI agents.
Oswalt was charged with multiple offenses, including statutory sexual assault, involuntary deviate sexual intercourse with a victim less than 16 years of age, aggravated indecent assault, and endangering the welfare of a child. Oswalt was lodged in the Indiana County Jail pending additional court proceedings.
