66th District Representative Chris Dush joined seven other Republican lawmakers yesterday in raising an alarm that climate change activists funded by billionaire former New York City Mayor Michael Bloomburg have wormed their way into Pennsylvania state government.
The eight Republicans sent a letter to Speaker Mike Turzai and Majority leader Bryan Cutler requesting a House Oversight Committee investigation of activist lawyers possibly housed within the Department of Environmental Protection to “work solely to advance progressive environmental policy,” and that they are working with the attorney general’s office “to advance progressive clean energy, climate change, and environmental legal positions.”
The letter says the activists are part of a “partisan political operation cloaked in secrecy”, citing what it calls vague answers by Attorney General Josh Shapiro’s office during the state budget hearings.
Dush was joined in signing the letter by Representatives Valerie Gaydos, Mike Jones, Dawn Keefer, Kate Clunk, Ryan Mackenzie, Brett Miller, and Frank Ryan.
