A nine-year-old Amish boy drowned yesterday while fishing with his family in Armstrong County.
State police report the boy was sitting on a boulder near Sportsman’s Boat Launch along the Mahoning Creek in Wayne Township, near Dayton when he was last seen at around 1 PM. Police say it appears the boy slipped and fell into the water and could not be found “due to the water being deeper than originally thought.”
When he was found, life-saving measures were immediately begun but he could not be revived. He was flown to Children’s Hospital in Pittsburgh where he was pronounced dead. The boy, who was from the Dayton area, has not been publicly identified and state police say no further information will be released.
