State police have issued an arrest warrant for a Uniontown man who has a criminal history in Indiana County and is wanted in connection with a suspicious death in Westmoreland County.
Troopers from the Greensburg barracks are on the lookout for 29-year-old Derrick Anthony Bass of Uniontown, as he is charged with homicide, abuse of a corpse, tampering with evidence, theft and receiving stolen property. The charges are connected with the death of an 11-month old girl who was found Saturday in the East Huntingdon area dead and under suspicious circumstances.
Bass, also known as “Hector” has a criminal history not only in Westmoreland County, but in Fayette and in Indiana County as well. In Indiana County, he was charged with two counts of retail theft in one case in 2012, where he was ordered to serve up to a year in prison and two years of probation. In a separate case in 2011, he pleaded guilty to a charge of receiving stolen property, while charges of theft and theft-false impression were not prosecuted. He was ordered at the time to up to a year in jail and two years of probation.
Bass is 5 feet 11 inches tall, about 300 lbs, and police say he may have reddish hair. Police are asking you to call them at 724-832-3288 or to call 911 if you have seen him.
