State police are charging a Marion Center woman with theft in connection with an under-ringing incident on July 11th. Police say on that day, Melissa Adams was at the Walmart in White Township had filled her cart with several items while being watched by Walmart’s loss prevention personnel. She went to a self-checkout counter at the front of the store, and scanned items that she did pay for, but did not scan all the items in her cart. She then tried to push the cart out when Walmart Loss Prevention personnel stopped her and detained her until state police arrived. Charges were filed through district court.
On the very next day, a different woman tried to walk out of the White Township Walmart without paying for the items. This time, police say that 32-year-old Sarah Erdley of Indiana placed about 12 items in a shopping cart and pushed it out the front door. Erdley was identified, charges were filed in district court, and a warrant was issued for her arrest. She was eventually taken into custody and is now in Indiana County Jail to await her arraignment.
