The lengthy streak of daily decreases in the average cost of gas across the country has come to an end.
Triple-A reports that today’s national average is $3.68 a gallon, which is an increase of a penny from earlier this week, marking the first time the national average has gone up since mid-June. At that point, gas price averages were over $5.00 a gallon across the nation. Experts say that there are still many factors that are affecting the global cost of oil, including the ongoing war in Ukraine, Covid-19, economic recession and hurricane season. Fewer drivers filling up has helped to keep prices down and most of the country that had used more expensive summer blends of gasoline have switched over to the winter blends.
Pennsylvania’s average is now at $3.83 a gallon, which went down less than a cent over the last 24 hours. It’s still six cents less than last week and 38 cents down from last month. Last year, the average was $3.34.
Indiana County’s average this morning is $3.88 a gallon, tying it with Cambria County. Among the surrounding counties, Jefferson County has the lowest average at $3.76. Clearfield has the next highest average at $3.84, then Westmoreland at $3.87. Armstrong county’s average remains the highest at $3.95.
Gas prices in Indiana, Homer City and Clymer are at $3.89, while Blairsville’s reporting prices at $3.85, according to Gasbuddy.com.
