A man who was scheduled to have a preliminary hearing today had his hearing rescheduled.
James Lantz of Commodore faces a charge of criminal homicide in the death of 23-year-old Derrick Davis in front of Davis’ home on Lovejoy Road in Green Township. State Police say in a criminal complaint that Davis’ girlfriend had gone to Lantz’s home, saying that she and Davis were involved in an argument. He went with her to confront Davis, but after the two men argued and fought, Lantz allegedly retrieved a sawed-off shotgun from a backpack he was carrying and shot Davis in the chest. He said he wanted to fire the gun into the air or at Davis’ feet, but when Davis approached him, he panicked.
Online court documents say that Lantz’s preliminary hearing was rescheduled to July 20th in front of District Judge Guy Haberl.
