State police are investigating a theft in the Saltsburg area. State police say that the theft happened at 4:00 Sunday afternoon at a home on Main Street. Two people would work the scheme with Savannah Rose Gray, a 23-year-old Latrobe woman distracting the victims, while the other person, 24-year-old Austin Hopkins of Saltsburg, would steal money or a cell phone. In this case, the victims were a 20-year-old Saltsburg woman and a juvenile with her. When one of the victims confronted Hopkins, Hopkins picked up a rifle that was in the room and threatened the victim with it. Both Hopkins and Gray both fled the scene on foot. Charges were filed in district court and the investigation is ongoing.
State police are investigating a theft that at the Giant Eagle in Indiana on July 5th. Troopers say on that day, a woman left her wallet in the shopping cart at Giant Eagle at 3:30 on the 5th. The woman said she forgot about the wallet and thought she lost it. After speaking with store management, it was determined that it was picked up by an unknown man who found it in her shopping cart after she left.
