Coming off a lackluster win against Western Michigan on Saturday, the Pitt Panthers dropped a notch to number 24 in the AP poll released yesterday, while Penn State leaped eight spots to number 14 after thrashing Auburn.
In the ACFA Coaches Poll, Pitt dropped out of the Top 25, while the Nittany Lions rose from 23 to number 15. Pitt plays Rhode Island at home on Saturday and Penn State will host Central Michigan.
Georgia is now number one in both polls, with Alabama second, Ohio State third, Michigan, and Clemson.
IUP is preparing for its third game of the season coming up on Saturday, the home opener against Mercyhurst, which also will be the Hall of Fame Game. Mercyhurst lost to Kutztown, 50-31 on Saturday.
Coach Paul Tortorella will join Jack Benedict tonight at 6 o’clock for Hawk Talk, from the CH Fields Craft Kitchen at the Hilton Garden Inn on 92.5 FM U92 and Renda Digital TV. Based on what he said after Saturday’s 44-21 win over Shippensburg, the coach has a busy week of preparation ahead of him.
There will be eleven Hall of Fame inductees on Saturday, including the two named to the new categories of Team and coach/administrator. The 1993 football team will be recognized and former tennis coach Tony Medvetz will be the coach/administrator inductee.
