Property owners in the proposed Indiana Downtown Improvement Area (IDIA) will receive calls to get feedback on the plan.
Downtown Indiana staffers and board members are making the calls to property owners. The plan itself was mailed to property owners in the district area and is also available on the Downtown Indiana website. The feedback they receive through these phone calls is essential, according to DI, as will help them craft and fine-tune a plan that would be beneficial to everyone in the district.
A lot of the concerns have come from apartment owners, and how the IDIA will affect them. One of the advantages is continued maintenance for the improvement area, and that includes snow removal in the winter. After the previous business improvement district expired, Downtown Indiana provided a reduced snow removal service. That was felt hard in February, when several inches of snow fell.
A public hearing for the IDIA will be held July 11th at 6:00 PM at the Indiana Borough Council chambers. The plan needs to be approved by 60% of the property owners in the district, and that vote will be tallied by sending ballots to property owners in the district.
