Expect delays on Oakland Avenue starting today as milling and paving begins on the busy 3-and-a-half mile stretch of road all the way from Philadelphia Street in Indiana Borough to Rustic Lodge Road in White Township.
PennDOT says the work will get underway at 9 AM and the project will be completed “by August”.
Indiana Borough motorists are also reminded that the summer paving program continues in the eastern section of town. It started with milling of streets last week and will be completed with fresh asphalt this week on South 4th street from Philadelphia Street to Grandview Avenue, the 300 Block of School Street, 400 Block of Grant Street, 400 Block of Elm Street, the “00” block of North 8th Street, and the Borough’s parking lot behind Grace United Methodist Church, which is being transformed into the trail head of the Hoodlebug Trail, hooking up with the former starting point of the trail along Rose Street.
The Indiana Borough paving project should be completed by the end of the week.
Drivers should watch for workers on the road this week and anticipate possible delays as PennDOT crews undertake patching repairs on a number of Indiana County roadways.
Patching is scheduled this week on:
- Route 217 in Burrell and Center townships;
- Route 259 in West Wheatfield Township;
- Route 286 in Blacklick, Young, and Conemaugh townships;
- Chambersville Road, Davis Road, and Washington Church Road in Rayne Township;
- and Brady Road in South Mahoning Township.
In addition, there is paving scheduled this week on Barnard Road in West Mahoning Township, and repair work is scheduled on a bridge on Bonner Road in Banks Township, and a number of other maintenance operations on other roads in the county.
