Indiana County’s courts will continue to be busy today as several formal arraignments will be held.
Included among those arraignments will be the arraignments for Alicia Dianne Jarvie of Indiana. She is facing multiple charges in 32 separate criminal filings, with many of the charges connected to forgery, theft by deception and bad checks. The incidents allegedly involved an unidentified elderly woman who was the victim in these incidents, as Jarvie is accused of raiding her account. Jarvie, also listed as being from Seward and Blairsville areas, was also involved in a criminal case in Blair County, where she is accused of hindering law enforcement officials after a chase. In February, Jarvie was in the car with Johnathan Thoma as he lead police in a pursuit. During that pursuit, Thoma allegedly drove directly at two police cruisers in an attempt to crash into them. After Thoma fled the vehicle to try and get away on foot, police say Jarvie gave them a false ID for him. That case is currently working its way through Blair County Courts.
Also coming in for formal arraignments today is 25-year-old Heather Naomi Smith, who will be arraigned for four separate incidents involving retail theft. These incidents allegedly took place over a four-day span from December 10th to the 13th in 2016. She has faced retail theft charges for two other incidents in January of this year, and was also involved in a theft and bad checks incident in October of Last year.
