Portage shut out Northern Cambria in three sets yesterday, 25-14, 25-23, and 25-13. The Mustangs’ Keira Sossong recorded her 1,000th career dig earlier in the week.
BOYS GOLF
Indiana won its second close match in two days with a five-stroke victory over Norwin yesterday at the Indiana Country Club. Harrison Martineau was the medalist, leading a group of three Indiana golfers who shot in the thirties. He had a one-over 37, to go along with Trevor Todd’s 38 and Caden Force’s 39. Adam Cowburn shot a 44 and Hunter Martin a 47. Norwin was led by Alex Graham’s 40.
Indiana is 10-4 overall and 6-3 in the Section, with their final Section match, a rematch against Penn Trafford, scheduled for next Tuesday and Indiana playing for a spot in the team playoffs. They beat PT by three strokes on Wednesday.
The individual section qualifier will be on Monday at the Youghiogheny Country Club.
Northern Cambria knocked off River Valley by 17 strokes at Chetremon yesterday. The Colts’ Brady Hoover was medalist with a 38. Ethan Blickenderfer shot a 44, Trevor Hauser a 45, Brad Boring a 48, and Zach Cavallo a 49. River Valley had three golfers in the forties, with Jake Pynos shooting a 42, Jeremy Reed a 45, and Bryson McDowell a 46.
GIRLS GOLF
The Indiana girls lost to Penn Trafford, 186-230 at Manor Valley Golf Club yesterday. Indiana was led by Peyton Scott with a 54. Emily Teacher shot a 56, Izabella Slagle a 59, and Madison Apjok and Bella Donatelli each shot 61, Donatelli missing a hole-in-one by inches on one hole.
