At their meeting Tuesday night, the United School Board approved several personnel hirings, including some that were security-related.
The board approved the hiring of former state troopers Steven Colo, Thomas Carrick, David Okopal, Brian Pyo, and William Ray as part-time School Security Guards, all of whom were separated from service with good standing. In addition to their initial hiring, all five were granted approval to carry a firearm while on school property. Board Vice President Dan Henning described the guards’ everyday duties within the district.
Henning also described the process in selecting the security guards.
All will work through the 2022-23 school year.
In other business, the board approved a revision to the organization chart, along with revisions to the district’s health and safety plan. The board also approved an agreement between the district and ARIN Intermediate Unit 28 to provide the services of a Licensed Professional Counselor at a rate of $91,884, which will be paid out of the PCCD Mental Health Grant.
