State police are searching for a Bolivar man who they allege fired a shot yesterday morning during an altercation inside a room at the Days Inn, along route 22 in Burrell Township.
A warrant has been issued for 26-year-old David Lee McGinnis, who fled with another man as state troopers were responding after the shooting was reported at about 9:30 AM. A search of the room yielded a 9 millimeter shell casing and bullet fragments lodged in the drywall.
A woman was taken into custody and faces drug charges. 26-year-old Matraca Lynn Vrana of Northern Cambria is charged with possession with intent to deliver, possession of a controlled substance, and possession of drug paraphernalia.
McGinnis is charged with one felony count of discharge of a firearm into an occupied structure, one felony count of persons not to possess firearms, and one misdemeanor count of recklessly endangering another person. He is the son of David Wayne McGinnis, who in 2010 committed suicide while awaiting court action in Westmoreland County after a crime wave in the Bolivar area. He’d spent much of his life in jail for numerous criminal acts.
Anyone with information on the whereabouts of David Lee McGinnis is urged to contact state police in Indiana at 357-1960. Trooper Josiah B. Murdock is leading the investigation.
