On last night’s edition of Hawk Talk on U92 and Renda Digital TV, IUP head coach Paul Tortorella broke down Saturday’s last-second win over East Stroudsburg and talked a bit about Frank Cignetti Sr., who passed away over the weekend and who recruited Tortorella to coach at IUP a couple of decades ago.
Duane Brown came up big for the Crimson Hawks on Saturday, catching twelve passes for 214 yards and a touchdown, including several keys receptions late in the game.
Tortorella says when the game is in the balance, you find your best players.
Tortorella recalled coming to IUP when Cignetti offered him the job of defensive coordinator, and said when he got here, it seemed very natural to refer to his boss the way everybody else did…as “Big Guy”.
Tortorella said wide receiver Derek Lockhart is very likely out for the season with an ACL injury to his knee and the grad student transfer from Cal U. will be eligible to return next season.
