After a successful night one, the Northern Appalachian Folk Festival is gearing up for a full day of activity in the 500 block of Philadelphia Street.
Activities start at 10:00 today with the Walk of Fame ceremony outside of Spaghetti Benders. This year’s walk of fame will honor the following individuals:
- Ann Feeney for Music
- Kamal Yousef for the Arts
- Richard Trumka for Education
- Father George Hnatko for Public Health
- Joseph Rothrock for Environmental issues
- Robert Mitchel for Human Rights
- Jim Thorpe for Sports
At 11:00 on the main stage will be the “Wall That Heals” Veterans Ceremony. That will be followed at 11:30 is the dedication of the Indiana County Underground Railroad location.
Starting at noon will be activities at the “Children’s Alley” at the Delaney Chevrolet Parking Lot. Also at noon will be the first workshop, the Storytellers and Liars contest, at the American Legion. Other workshops include Unexplained Phenomena of Northern Appalachia, and Dressmaking Civil War Fashions.
Main Stage entertainment starts at noon with the fiddle, mandolin and banjo contest, followed by Krazy Kat Daddies at 2:30, Jerry B and the Bonetones at 4:00, Eleanor Walrus at 5:30, Black Ridge at 7:00 and Joe Grushecky and the House Rockers wrapping up the night at 8:30.
