With the current labor deals set to expire on Sunday, there have been new negotiations recently between the State System of Higher Education and APSCUF, the union representing both the faculty and coaches at the fourteen state-owned universities.
The two sides in the faculty talks met last Wednesday through Friday, and union chief Dr. Kenneth Mash says they tackled “difficult issues”, but made progress. Both Mash and State System Chancellor Dan Greenstein expressed optimism about the new “interest-based bargaining”, with the talks resuming yesterday and scheduled to continue through Friday.
Neither side has released any information on what topics have been covered so far.
Meanwhile, the two sides exchanged proposals June 3rd on the separate coaches’ contract. No new talks are scheduled until July 1st, the day after the current contract expires.
