For those out there who have back taxes due to Pennsylvania, the next few days may be your last chance to get your taxes paid without paying a lot in penalties and interest.
For the past few months, the Pennsylvania Department of Revenue has offered tax amnesty for those who have been delinquent in paying their taxes. Individuals and businesses have until midnight on June 19th to pay their delinquent taxes under the amnesty program. If they take advantage of it, then all the taxpayer would have to pay would be what they owe in taxes and half of the interest owed. All penalties would be waived under this amnesty program. If an individual or company has been “flying under the radar” with tax liabilities unknown to the Revenue department, they only need to pay taxes going back to January 1st of 2011.
The program is offering tax amnesty to more than 30 taxes administered by the state department of Revenue, including the corporate net income tax, employer withholding tax, sales tax, and personal income tax. The program is expected to provide an additional $100 million in net revenue for the current fiscal year’s budget.
The Revenue department has said they will not extend this program past June 19th. The call center will be open Saturday from 8-4 and Monday from 8 AM to Midnight. You can call them at 1-844-727-8283 or you can log on to http://backtax.pa.gov.
