The Steelers yesterday claimed linebacker Jamir Jones off waivers from Jacksonville and cut linebacker Derrek Tuszka. Jones was with the Steelers at the beginning of the season but they lost him to the Rams when they tried to waive him and sign him to their practice squad. He played in 15 NFL games last season.
The Steelers also yesterday put safety Damontae Kazee and rookie wide receiver Calvin Austin III on injured reserve and promoted safety/linebacker Marcus Allen and offensive tackle Trent Scott to the 53-man roster.
The team also signed cornerback Mark Gilbert, tight end Justin Rigg, and linebacker Chapelle Russell to its practice squad.
