Their reputations preceded them, and two people from Indiana ended up in jail this week.
State police say 26-year-old Heather Smith and 33-year-old Frank Gardner have prior convictions for retail theft, and Walmart personnel recognized them from a previous when they walked into the Burrell Township store at 2:20 in the afternoon on Wednesday. A Walmart loss prevention associate followed the couple and was watching as they put items from the electronics department into a large handbag that Smith was carrying. They were detained and police were summoned, and Smith surrendered $595 worth of merchandise from the bag.
Because of their prior convictions, both Smith and Gardner are facing felony retail theft charges, and both were placed in the county jail.
