A fire call in Burrell Township turned out to be nothing more than a controlled burn.
Blairsville and Black Lick fire departments were dispatched at 8:28 PM for an unknown type of fire that was called in on Old William Penn Highway. In a post on the department’s Facebook page, Black Lick fire officials said that they had received word on a large brush pile on fire that was endangering a nearby structure near the intersection of Old William Penn and Lintmer Road. When crews arrived, they found that the fire was a controlled burn, the fire was not endangering the structure, and the business owner was on the scene.
Crews were promptly cancelled.
