Expect more lengthy delays today on Route 119 north of Indiana in Rayne Township, where paving operations ramped up two days ago.
Delays yesterday caused lines of more than 100 cars as the $16 million, three-year Route 119 Grove Chapel Climbing Lane Project nears its projected completion later this month.
In October, traffic was shifted onto a newly-constructed section of the highway near Musser Nursery, but the new road surface had not yet received its final coating of asphalt and it had already begun deteriorating over the winter.
The project includes the realignment between Musser’s and Rayne Township School Drive, along with new access from Kimmel Road, a climbing lane on Grove Chapel Hill, and left-turn lanes.
Northbound drivers who don’t want to sit in traffic today might want to find another route.
