A new Emerson College poll shows Josh Shapiro continuing to lead Doug Mastroiano in the governor’s race and John Fetterman holding his lead over Mehmet Oz in the run for U.S. Senate, but both of those races have tightened considerably with a little over two months of campaigning to go.
Shapiro’s lead over Mastroiano is 47 percent to 44 percent, with 3 percent undecided and 6 percent planning to vote for someone else.
Fetterman leads Oz 48 percent to 44 percent, with 5 percent undecided and 3 percent saying they will vote for someone else. In urban areas, Fetterman polls 75 percent of voters. In rural areas, Oz pulls in 59 percent. In suburban areas, both candidates are preferred by 47 percent of voters.
Forty-five percent of Pennsylvanians say the economy is the most important election issue, with access to abortions second at 14 percent, followed by crime (10 percent), healthcare (9 percent), education (6 percent), and immigration.
Potential voters were also asked their preferences for the 2024 presidential election, if the candidates are Donald Trump and Joe Biden. Trump polled 47 percent and Biden 42 percent, with 8 percent preferring ”someone else” and 3 percent undecided.
