Police have not released the name of the Indiana County man who was arrested last Thursday after a handgun and a folding knife were found in a carry-on bag at the security checkpoint at the Arnold Palmer Regional Airport in Latrobe. An Indiana man, meanwhile, is due for a preliminary hearing on a weapons charge from Thursday in that jurisdiction. We emphasize that there has been no official connection made between the two incidents.
The .380 caliber pistol –loaded with six rounds – and the knife were found by Transportation Security Administration officers who detained the man and summoned Westmoreland County Police.
30-year-old Shane Michael Lopiccolo of Indiana is scheduled to have a preliminary hearing next Monday at 10 AM before Unity Township District Judge Michael Mahady on a single misdemeanor charge of “firearm not to be carried without a license – no criminal violation”.
