Starting tomorrow, Penelec customers will get a break on their electricity bills. Just in time for air conditioning season, a rate adjustment for Standard Offer Service for residential customers will drop the cost of a kilowatt hour from 6.909 cents to 5.612 cents. The rate will be effective through September 30th.
Penelec has also announced its future rate schedule. Electricity will cost 6.030 cents per kilowatt hour from October 1st through May 31st of next year. That makes the weighted average price 5.891 cents from now through May 31st of 2020.
The rate for June 1st 2020 through May of the following year will be set in January.
