The summer construction season continues at IUP, with the start today of a couple of projects that could have an effect on drivers trying to get through the campus.
A Pennsylvania American Water Company water main replacement project gets underway today in the area of the HUB parking lot near Maple Street. Also today, a meter pit replacement project begins on Pratt Drive. That work should conclude by June 14th.
Ongoing projects on the IUP campus include:
- The lighting project at George P. Miller Stadium, which should wrap up this week.
- A steam line restoration project at the intersection of Maple Street and 11th Street, with traffic detoured through June 7th.
- The Grant Street repaving project continues through June 10th.
- And the conversion of the basement at Stabley Library to new University College offices, including a new front entrance vestibule and plaza.
Upcoming work this summer will include the continued conversion of Grant Street between Clark and Putt halls, which will involve removing the street and replacing it with a pedestrian plaza featuring new concrete walks and brick paving. That gets underway on July 1st. And two steam tunnel replacement projects will begin on July 1st on Pratt Drive.
The IUP parking garage should be open again today after its annual two-week maintenance program.
