An ordinance update to include swimming pool safety will go before the White Township Supervisors tonight during their regular meeting.
The supervisors will take a look at a draft revision of the dangerous structures code with new language that will include further rules concerning swimming pools. The issue came up after a five-year-old boy had wandered away from home and was found unresponsive in a swimming pool about a tenth of a mile away from his home. After that incident, some in White Township wanted to see a new ordinance that would focus on the prevention of this incident. After lengthy discussions with the comprehensive plan steering committee, it was recommended that the supervisors update the dangerous structures ordinance already on the books to include swimming pools.
The supervisors will also look to approve a resolution for the township’s Complete Streets policy, and the board will also look to approve the sale of some of its equipment through an auction that was recently held. The board will look at the bids tonight.
The meeting starts at 7:00 PM tonight at the Township Building on Indian Springs Road.
