Investigators with the National Weather Service are on their way to the Josephine area to see if a tornado in fact touched down during last night’s severe storms.
During the run of strong thunderstorms in the area, a tornado warning was issued for Indiana and Westmoreland Counties. That was on top of the several incidents that fire crews were called out for in the southern parts of Indiana County. Indiana County 911 reported that between 8:46 and 9:30 PM, there were six reports of either trees or utility lines down, causing major outages, especially in the Blacklick, Burrell and Young Township areas.
As of this morning, the nearest power outage to our area is in the New Florence area, but the storms brought power outages, wind, rain and quarter-sized hail.
