It was a thriller for Marion Center, as the Stingers scored two runs in the bottom of the seventh inning to beat Southern Huntingdon 3-2 and advance to the District 6 championship game.
Hailey McCunn drove in the winning run with a walkoff single to cap the comeback. Marion Center entered the 7th trailing 2-1 but Ericka Neil led off the inning by reaching on an error. With one out, pinch hitter Jackie Fetsko lined a single off the fence in right-center field, with Neil advancing to third. Then Mia Urbani continued her hot post-season, smacking a single that scored Neil with the tying run and putting Fetsko on second. Maddie Mumau was inserted to run for Fetsko, setting the stage for McCunn’s solid single that drove in Mumau with the winning run.
Marion Center opened the scoring in the first when Torri Ashbaugh singled and came home later in the inning on an error on Laney Monroe’s hard shot to the shortstop. The Rockets answered with two runs in the second on a hit batsmen, a run-scoring single with an error, and an RBI double. Southern Huntingdon carried that lead into the seventh as Marion Center starter Jasmine Hill shut down the Rockets through the sixth, retiring the last ten hitters she faced. Grace Rougeaux got the win by tossing a scoreless seventh.

Marion Center will play the District 6 Class AA championship game at St. Francis University next Wednesday afternoon against the winner of today’s game between top seed Bishop McCort and Northern Cambria.
