Several defendants are scheduled for sentencing in Indiana County today, including a Plumville man who admitted guilt to misdemeanor indecent assault without the consent of the victim in a case in which he was originally charged with two felony counts of incest, a second misdemeanor count of indecent assault, and rape by forcible compulsion. The rape charge against 56-year-old Robert E. Adams was dismissed at the lower court, and he will not be prosecuted for the other offenses. The charges were filed last September for incidents dated the month before.
After a Megan’s Law evaluation, District Attorney Pat Dougherty will ask that Adams be designated a sexually violent predator. A hearing on that request will be held today by Judge William Martin prior to sentencing.
Among the other defendants scheduled to be sentenced are:
- 66-year-old Daniel Sparks of Indiana, for felony corruption of minors, with non-prosecution for aggravated indecent assault of a person less than thirteen years of age and indecent assault of a person less than thirteen years of age. Sparks was also subjected to a Megan’s Law evaluation.
- 45-year-old Pamela Ann Hartzog of Indiana, who will be sentenced in two cases, one for possession of a controlled substance and the other for driving under the influence of a controlled substance and driving with a suspended license. She will also have two hearings for probation revocation from previous cases.
- 36-year-old Kenneth Polites Jr. of Blairsville will be sentenced for two cases. He pleaded guilty to felony possession with intent to deliver a controlled substance in both cases.
- 59-year-old Spurgeon Wallace of Blairsville will also be sentenced for possession with intent to deliver a controlled substance.
