State Police have issued reports on two accidents, one in Indiana County and the other in Westmoreland County involving an Indiana County driver.
The first crash happened last Saturday morning on Route 711 in Fairfield Township, Westmoreland County. Police say 36-year-old Derek Anderson of Armagh lost control of his car on a right curve, went over a small embankment and struck a tree. Anderson was taken by ambulance to Conemaugh Memorial Medical Center in Johnstown.
The second crash was the three-vehicle accident we reported on just after it happened at 12:15 PM on Tuesday in the northbound lane of Route 119 in Burrell Township. Police say no one was injured as a car driven by 28-year-old Matthew Unger of Parker, Armstrong County, attempted to make a right turn into a parking lot but was struck from behind by a commercial truck driven by 27-year-old Brandon Thomas of McKeesport. Unger’s car was pushed across the parking lot’s entrance into the passenger side rear end of a super-duty Ford pickup operated by 54-year-old Mark Unger of Templeton, also in Armstrong County.
Police say the commercial truck driver, Thomas, was cited for driving at an unsafe speed.
