Five fire departments were called out for a structure fire Wednesday afternoon.
Indiana County 911 reports that the first call went out at 2:49 PM on Wednesday for Creekside and Elderton fire departments along with the Rig Team and Citizen’s Ambulance for a home on fire at 432 Jamison Street. Creekside Assistant Chief Cody Hitchings described the scene when they first got there.

Creekside and Elderton would be joined by Indiana, Plumville, and Homer City fire departments, while four others went in on standby detail.
The house was rendered uninhabitable, with most of the damage reported in the garage and the second floor, and water damage on the first floor. Hitchings would not release the name of the family that lived there, but he did say they got out safely, and the Red Cross is assisting them. He also reported that one firefighter had to be treated for “heat-related stress”.
The cause of the fire has not been determined, but Hitchings said that the fire was not intentionally set.
