An online article that puts Indiana borough in a bad light was one of the discussion topics at last night’s Indiana Borough council meeting.
An article that has made the rounds on the internet named Indiana as one of the most dangerous towns in the state, and that caught the attention of some members of Indiana Borough Council. Indiana Borough Police chief William Sutton said that the data that many of those reports cite is skewed because of certain circumstances, including the influx of young people every year. While the chief says that they do investigate a lot of incidents, he says that he feels that Indiana Borough is still a very safe place. The topic is expected to be discussed at future public safety meetings.
In other business, borough council approved three ordinances. One was the elimination of an ordinance covering grass, weeds and other vegetation, as those rules are covered in other ordinances. Council also approved repealing and replacing an ordinance concerning stormwater management, and approved a new street excavation ordinance. It was also announced that Indiana Borough was named a Playful City by the charity foundation “KaBoom!” for the fifth consecutive year.
