The Homer-Center School Board met last night and gave preliminary approval to a budget with no tax increase.
The budget comes to $18,444,557, and includes a transfer of $915,122 from the general fund to the capital reserve fund. The budget passed 8-1 with Vicki Smith the lone dissenting vote. The budget will be up for final approval next month.
The board also unanimously approved a $520,159 contract for lighting and mechanical improvements through the ESCO energy savings program. Another contract for $194,963 was approved for a staircase that is a part of the Junior High School. A Temporary Stair fix was inspected recently and was found to be structurally sound. This new project will create a permanent solution by putting a new enclosed staircase in replacing the staircase with the temporary fix.
The board also accepted the resignation of Business manager Greg Cessna. Board Chairman Michael Bertig said that Cessna has served the district well over the past few years.
